Seine-et-Marne: a mother and her daughter found dead at home

A family drama. The lifeless bodies of a 56-year-old mother and her 17-year-old daughter, bearing multiple traces of stab wounds, were found Friday in their apartment in Nemours, Seine-et-Marne. The parquet floor of Fontainebleau favors the hypothesis of an infanticide followed by suicide.

The teenager received “thirteen stab wounds located all over the body, in particular in the chest and in the back”, indicated Arnaud Faugère, the public prosecutor of Fontainebleau, who went on the spot.

The mother of the family died of “six stab wounds” in the throat and wrists, thus pointing the track of suicide for the magistrate. A knife was found near the two women, in the room where the tragedy took place.

The prosecutor argued that recent personal events could have led the fifties, psychologically fragile, to attack her daughter and then herself. The alert had been given at the beginning of the afternoon by the other girl, aged 15, according to the prosecution. It was she who discovered them on returning home, in a small building in Nemours.

The investigation opened for “voluntary homicide” also showed that the accommodation had not been broken into and that no trace of a struggle had been found inside. The mother, a widow, had no criminal record.
