It is in a press release that the one-stop shop for cybersecurity assistance and prevention in France announced this Tuesday March 26, 2024 the extent of its “SensCyber” system to the general public and employees of VSE-SMEs. The aim is to raise awareness among the majority of the population about digital risks and cybercrime.
This system, which is intended to be educational and interactive, is made up of 3 modules intended to introduce the general public to the most common threats and attacks on the Internet and learn how to protect themselves against them. A follow-up certificate is issued at the end of this entirely online training.
This announcement comes at the right time, at a time when France is the victim of numerous cyberattacks, the latest of which are those of France Travail, ministries and high schools.
“Understand”, “Act”, “Transmit”: 3 awareness modules
Accessible to all, the online awareness module, SensCyber, is available free of charge on the Cybermalveillance.gouv.fr website. To access it, each user simply needs to create an account on the platform, allowing them to practice as many times as they wish.
Structured in three modules – “Understand”, “Act”, “Transmit” – this program aims at three essential educational objectives: first, understanding the foundations of the most widespread cyberattacks and the risks they represent both in the private sphere as professional. Then, act by adopting and assimilating basic good practices in our daily activities, whether on our mobile phones, on social networks, or in terms of digital hygiene. Finally, understand the importance and way of transmitting these values, whether in a personal or professional context, given the fluidity of practices. It is also possible to identify public actors to contact in the event of attacks, to benefit from optimal support.
Available in two versions, adapted to communities as well as VSE-SME employees and the general public, this online training is intended to be accessible to all. It is based on inclusive, visually attractive and interactive content, including motion design videos and knowledge tests. These three modules, each lasting 25 to 45 minutes, allow everyone to quickly become familiar with cybersecurity issues in a fun way, thus giving meaning to the adoption of best practices.
Finally, once the three “SensCyber” modules have been followed, the user can download a follow-up certificate attesting to their participation if they have obtained a score of at least 60%.
After administrations and businesses, the French are increasingly exposed to cyberattacks
Laurent Verdier, director of the Awareness division of Cybermalveillance.gouv.fr, underlines the importance of this initiative in a context where 9 out of 10 French people have already been confronted with a cyber threat, according to the study OpinionWay 2023 for Cybermalveillance.gouv.fr. In a context where cyber threats are multiplying and becoming more complex, and where daily life is increasingly moving towards everything digital, the French are increasingly exposed. This reality is all the more worrying for the French administrations, which have around 5 million agents and thus represent a significant part of the active population, but which remain a particularly vulnerable target, as evidenced by the attack by the CAF in February 2024, which exposed the personal data of 600,000 user accounts.
To better protect these agents and teach them good practices to adopt, Cybermalveillance.gouv.fr launched SensCyber in June 2023, an e-awareness platform specifically dedicated to civil servants, in collaboration with the Ministry of Transformation and Function. public service, the General Directorate of Administration and Civil Service (DGAFP), the National Center for Territorial Civil Service (CNFPT) and the National Association for the Continuing Training of Hospital Personnel (ANFH). In addition to the already existing e-training platforms of these administrative organizations, “SensCyber” has been integrated into the intranets of more than 30 public sector organizations in order to make these resources accessible to a wider audience of agents, in a format interactive.
Building on the positive feedback from the first users and as part of its general interest mission aimed at assisting, raising awareness, protecting and observing, Cybermalveillance.gouv.fr has decided to broaden access to its e-awareness program. The latter is now open to the general public as well as to employees of VSEs and SMEs, often faced with human and technical challenges in terms of cybersecurity. “SensCyber”, completely free, is part of a cyber responsibility approach and aims to provide simple tools to adopt good practices in the face of attacks, in accordance with the organization’s public service mission.
