The announced storm has already led to fire fighting operations in several parts of Carinthia due to floods and a mudslide. The country’s fire brigades are on high alert.
“There have been several floods, especially in the area of Griffen and in the Lavant Valley. But there was no major damage, luckily no one was injured, ”said the LAWZ.
Mudslides in Hüttenberg
Due to heavy rain in combination with hail, the Görtschitztal Straße (B92) in the local area of Hüttenberg was relocated by a mud. “When the mudslide slid down, parts of the facade and the outdoor area of an apartment building as well as a residential building were damaged,” reports a police officer. The total damage is not yet known.
During the clean-up work, the B92 was difficult to pass. 15 workers from the Hüttenberg fire department and the road maintenance department were deployed.
Flooded cellar in Villach
Several cellar floods occurred on Saturday afternoon in both Villach-Land and the city center. “But there were no major incidents here either,” said the LAWZ.
