The merger of the Crdit du Nord and Socit Gnrale networks becomes visible. The group announces the creation of ten regional brands to be rolled out next year, once the merger is validated. This merger of the two networks of the Socit Gnrale group also leads to the loss of 3,700 jobs.
The merger between the Socit Generale and Credit du Nord groups is taking shape. The Socit Generale bank has announced the creation of a new brand which will be deployed and associated with 10 regional brands: SG Crdit du Nord, SG Grand Est, SG Laydernier (Savoie), SG Auvergne-Rhne-Alpes, SG SMC (South-East), SG South-West, SG Tarneaud (Centre), SG Grand Ouest, SG Courtois (South -Ouest) and SG Socit Gnrale (Le-de-France and Corsica). The le-de-France region will be split in two.
New brands launched in January 2023
The new brands will be visible from next year, once the merger is legally validated on January 1, 2023. Eleven regional managers will also be appointed.
This new brand strategy, the definition of which directly involved employees of the two banks and which is faithful to the history and the respective strengths of the two networks, justifies Socit Generale in a press release. It embodies our values and what we want to offer our customers together: the strength of a large international group combines the proximity of a bank more rooted in the regionsthat is to say the best of our two brands to reinforce the quality, relevance and responsiveness of the services offered to our customers.

The merger, which still has to be validated by the regulators, also entails the elimination of 3700 positions. No departure will be forced, promised the group.
The IT migration and the change of account numbers will take place during the first half of 2023. The IBAN changes will only concern current customers of the Crdit du Nord network.
