SG, LCL, BNP life insurance… Do banks offer the best rates in 2023?

Announcements of life insurance rates of return continue to rain in. The average expected remuneration is 2.5%. Banking contracts, often lagging until now, are among the best for 2023. A look back at these contracts which have become attractive again.

BNP Paribas, SG, LCL… The banks had already made significant increases in their rates between 2021 and 2022. The trend is confirmed very clearly in 2023. Spectacular rebounds are observed in particular for the Squoia contract of SG which displays a performance 2.85% or even Multiplacements 2 from BNP Paribas which serves a 3% rate. La Banque Postale is doing a little less well and pays 2.30% for its flagship Cashmere Serie 2 contract, but remains higher than the rate of the Afer savers association (2.22%).

What about old contracts?

Some insurance companies favor the returns on new contracts and pay lower rates for older contracts, particularly those closed to marketing.

So what has La Banque Postale decided for the former flagship Vivaccio contract in 2023? 2.20% compared to 1.30% last year. The new Cachemire 2 Series 2 contract pays 2.30%.

As for the Caisse d’Epargne, old contracts managed by CNP Assurances such as Nuances 3D or Nuances Plus respectively display a base rate 2.15% and 2.20%. In 2022, the base rate rose to 1.30%. The increase in returns allows holders of these contracts to benefit, depending on the UC share, from a rate of 3.65% for Nuances 3D and 3.70% for Nuances Plus.

Life insurance: 2.5% or more, what will be the return on your contract in 2023?

Crdit Agricole, BNP Paribas, SG, LCL… Banks are no longer giving in

Is it the fear of seeing customer deposits stolen from the competition? Or rather for fear of seeing life insurance savings continue to add too much to the Livret A? Whatever the explanation, the observation is striking: the time when banks were rather at the bottom of the ranking of rates of return in life insurance seems to be over. This year again, they are making the effort to serve rates close to the expected average (2.5% according to experts), or even clearly above it, even before the bonuses.

This is particularly the case at Socit Generale for the Sequoia and Erable Essentiel contracts which serve a base rate 2.85% which can be increased up to 3.73% and 3.72% respectively. BNP Paribas surprises this year with a basic yield of 3%, up 1 point compared to 2022, for all its contracts and in particular the famous Multiplacements 2. The yield bonuses, allocated according to the payments made, allow savers to to benefit from rates ranging up to 5%.

Banks in front of associations like Afer or Gaipare!

Even if the rates are a little lower for the Predissime range of Crdit Agricole (2.40% base rate), they remain higher than the rate of the savings associations, Afer and Gaipare, respectively 2.22% and 2.30% in 2023. LCL Lifealso insured by Predica, a subsidiary of Crdit Agricole, offers a return 2.80%.

If the basic rates (even those 3%) of bank contracts do not equal that of the Livret A, it is indeed because of the social security contributions of 17.2%, which must still be deducted. However, banks today find themselves among the best life insurance returns already announced.
