Apple is relaunching its connected speaker with a second version that brings some improvements for music lovers.
The HomePod is making a comeback in January 2023, almost two years after it was put to death by the American manufacturer.

If we thought that the brand was now going to focus only on the HomePod mini, its small connected speaker competing with the Amazon Echo and other Google Nest Audio, Apple is surprising by offering this new HomePod, almost identical in terms of design.
The speaker is still covered with mesh fabric and is topped with a touch screen, a little larger on this version, which allows you to interact with Siri, in addition to controlling the volume. It measures 14 cm in diameter for a still imposing weight of 2.3 kg.
Inside, there are 5 tweeters (against 7 previously) at the bottom of the device and a 4-inch woofer for the bass. Apple uses on this version its SiP (System in Package) Apple S7 which equipped the Apple Watch Series 7.

To optimize the sound reproduction, Apple uses a system with four microphones which will “listen” to the sound produced. An in-house algorithm will then optimize the latter according to the place where the speaker is placed and the surrounding walls, in real time. Another microphone, located inside the device this time, will also be there to improve the sound based on feedback.
The HomePod can be used as a speaker for the Apple TV 4K and inherits eARC compatibility to use it on all devices connected to the television. By purchasing two copies, it is possible to create a Dolby Atmos compatible stereo pair. The millions of Audio Spatial titles on Apple Music can also be read from the speaker, alone or in duo.
The HomePod also incorporates some new home automation features, including a temperature and humidity sensor. Connected to HomeKit and the accessories in your ecosystem, the speaker can automatically turn on a fan or close the blinds according to a predefined temperature. This HomePod cuvée 2023 is also compatible with Matter, the new home automation standard being deployed by all manufacturers of connected objects for the home.
The HomePod is available for pre-order now at a price of 349 euros. Deliveries will begin on Friday, February 3.
