Queen Elizabeth II can apparently laugh again: When visiting a British aircraft carrier, the Queen was exuberant.

After the funeral of her husband Prince Philip (1921-2021), Queen Elizabeth II (95) has slowly but surely returned to day-to-day business in recent weeks. Today, Saturday (May 22nd) she visited the new British aircraft carrier “HMS Queen Elizabeth” in Portsmouth harbor before it set sail.

Press photos show an amazingly good-humored British monarch who kept laughing exuberantly. The Queen was received and shown around the ship by Captain Angus Essenhigh and Commodore Stephen Moorhouse. The aircraft carrier is named after Elizabeth I (1533-1603). He will set sail today and visit 40 countries on the 28-week journey, including India, Japan and South Korea.

Her first official appointment after Prince Philip’s funeral on April 17, which took place outside the walls of Windsor Castle, Queen Elizabeth II had completed on May 11. She opened the session of the British Parliament.
