Long and mid-length hair for women: which cut to adopt curtain bangs?
Known as the “curtain bang”, this is certainly one of the most talked about bangs in recent years. Adopted by Brigitte Macron as well as Penelope Cruz, and Jeanne Damas, the “curtain bang” is now one of the trends to absolutely adopt.
Open on the front, the curtain fringe can be either rather long at chin level, or short at eye level. “It frames the face, like a curtain.”, explains the hairdresser. “It also allows it to be placed on one side if it is long and therefore allows a maximum hairstyles”. For the expert, the curtain fringe is ideal on a haircut to at least shoulder length and for long hair. “On a short square, it will have less effect and less interest.” Also know that this type of bangs “reduces cheekbones that are too wide and tightens a face.
Round, oval, square…: what face shape should you wear curtain bangs?
The one that brings naturalness and elegance to all hair types and suits any face shape. For example, if you have a round face, choose short, tapered curtain bangs that will elongate your facial features. On the other hand, if you have a face with a pronounced jawline then set your sights on long curtain bangs, which will soften your face thanks to the movements formed on each side of the face. Finally, if you have an oval face, short or long curtain bangs will suit you perfectly. It’s up to you to choose the one that makes your heart capsize!
Short or long: how to properly style your curtain bangs?
In a recent interview with Current wife, Stéphane Lancien, Eva Longoria’s hairdresser, stressed the importance of equipping yourself with a good hairdryer and a good brush. “We style curtain bangs with a large round brush. With these bangs which require little maintenance, what’s pretty is when they fall, like a curtain, with flexibility”, explained the hairdresser. In fact, the wick must “work yourself backwards before letting it fall slowly“.
You are free to style it however you want! You can create slight waves using a straightener, straighten it or use curlers to get the effect of wispy bangs. But if heating devices aren’t your thing, then you can just let it air dry.
Micro-bangs for short cuts
Want a short bangs Zendaya style? Be careful, because according to the hairdresser, this type of fringe remains the most difficult to wear. Straight, structured and a bit daring (not to say completely), “it remains ideal if you have a small forehead and it highlights the face by adding depth to the forehead.” On short hair, like the micro mini-bob, it is very pretty and harmonious. But it can also be carried out on long hair : “it’s a bias and it gives a distinct style to a look because the gap between the length of the bangs and the rest of the hair is contrasted.”

What is a loose bangs? “This is a fringe with a very stylish, unstyled appearance.”, replies the expert. She brings a hairstyle-disheveled effect, as if the bangs had grown back. “It looks very pretty on a slightly short, supple and unstructured bob.” It is suitable for all face types “except for fairly short foreheads because it needs to be long to give the “loose” effect”.
The classic bangs on all haircuts
Timeless and chic, “the classic fringe highlights the look”, notes Gianni Coppa. It’s a classic shape fringe but it can have variations: very straight, with edges that go upwards, or on the contrary edges that go downwards and give a rounded appearance to the fringe. “It can be adopted with a small bob and even on very long hair.. But be careful, on hair too short, it may not be harmonious because it will be longer than the rest of the cut. In addition, it helps reduce the appearance of a forehead considered too “important”.
