Sigma 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN OS Sport: a big telephoto lens for E and L mounts

To get 2023 off to a good start, Sigma is launching a new long focal length zoom lens, the 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN OS Sport. This extraordinary zoom, intended for L and Sony E mounts, is naturally intended for sports or wildlife photography enthusiasts who want to aim a little further than with a Tamron 50-400 mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD by example.

Tropicalized and stabilized

With this telephoto zoom, Sigma intends to appeal to owners of full-frame mirrorless cameras who want the longest possible focal length in a versatile lens. The focal range extending from 60 to 600 mm thus allows a 10x zoom, allowing you not to have to change stones depending on the situation.

To face all situations, Sigma has naturally tropicalized its lens, making it more resistant to difficult conditions and protecting it against the intrusion of dust and humidity.

Whether photographing vehicles or birds in flight, the Sigma 60-600mm f4.5-6.6 has optical stabilization in two modes, one general, the other more suited to motion effects. Inside, it is an in-house algorithm called “OS2” which takes control associated with an HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) autofocus motor combining speed, silence and precision, enough, on paper, to follow all subjects regardless of their speed.

To achieve such a focal range while maintaining a good level of quality, the lens is based on an optical formula with 27 elements divided into 19 groups, integrating two FLD glasses and three SLD (low dispersion) glasses.

Price and availability

Barely unveiled, the Sigma 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN OS Sport is expected for mid-February 2023. The price is up to its focal range: you will have to pay 2349 € to store it in your bag.
