Simone Thomalla celebrated her 59th birthday just a few days ago. On GALA on TV, she reflects, among other things, on getting older and draws attention to a paradoxical “mistake” in society.

Simone Thomalla is surprised: “We all want to grow old, but no one wants to be old”

Since the beginning of humanity, it feels like it has been about extending life and constantly optimizing yourself so that you stay as healthy as possible and grow old. But that’s getting olderbecome also the older onebe heard, some people try to forget. A circumstance that Thomalla does not fully understand. She’s not afraid of getting older. “Of course it’s a number that does something to you. But if we’re being honest, we all want to grow old, but no one wants to be old.”

So instead of complaining about your older age, you should be happy about how much time you have been given in life. “How many (…) have died very young recently – you can actually only celebrate every year when you get older.” For the actress, it’s a question of attitude to life, “what you make of it, how you feel, whether you’re fit, whether you’re healthy and the rest, it’s all completely Kikifax.” She is therefore looking forward to getting older.

GALA presenter Annika Lau, 45, wants to know whether she is also looking forward to a new man. “I’ve been in relationships my whole life. (…) I really enjoy being the master of myself, just taking care of myself. If I ever meet someone, it’s nice, but…”

Dating apps are not her thing

However, she has little use for dating apps. She has to see people and can’t “swipe left and right like a machine.” I can’t do that, so that’s out of the question for me.

You can watch the whole interview on Saturday, April 20th from 5:45 p.m. on RTL or stream it on RTL+.
