While TF1 will broadcast three new unseen episodes of the Sissi series on Thursday, December 30, 2021, from 9:05 p.m., Télé Star reveals whether fiction will return to the first channel for a second season or not.
Mainly known thanks to his incarnation by Romy Schneider in the legendary film series of the same name, the character of Empress Sissi was given a makeover in the form of a television series, which was launched on the antenna of TF1 Thursday 23 December 2021 in prime time. At the casting, we find the actress Dominique Devenport in the role of Sissi, but also the actor Jannik Schumann, who plays the character of Franz. Desiree Nosbusch, Tanja Schleiff and Paula Kober are also present in this fiction, of which three new unpublished episodes will be scheduled on Thursday, December 30, 2021 on the first channel, from 9:05 p.m.
“His love of freedom and his promise to give the Habsburg monarchy a gentler face captivated Europe. Sissi, this is a true story, full of intrigue and desire. The story of a carefree teenage girl, Sissi, who falls head over heels in love with a powerful and desirable man. But this man has a dark and dangerous hidden side. This love was not meant to exist. Sissi must choose and accepts the challenge. A coming-of-age story, the tomboy becomes a modern, self-confident woman. She will be able to make difficult decisions, to cope with the loss of a loved one and ultimately to play an independent role as Empress“, specifies the synopsis of the series.
Sissi: disappointing prime time audiences
During its first broadcast evening on TF1, the first three episodes of the series Sissi did not really enthrall viewers. In total, 2.78 million curious people have discovered the beginning of this fiction, which represents 14.1% of audience share of the general public aged 4 and over, according to figures from Médiamétrie. A decidedly low score for the first channel in prime time.
It remains to be seen from now on the results of the last 3 episodes proposed Thursday, December 30, 2021. In Germany, the Sissi series has been renewed for a 2nd season by the german channel RTL. Thus, 6 new episodes of 52 minutes should be produced, with a view to broadcasting on TF1 next year. However, poor audiences for fiction could convince the French channel not to offer this 2nd season to its viewers. Case to follow.
