With the purchase of Sky Germany, 1&1 could try to attract new customers in order to close the gap on the market leaders Telekom and Vodafone. The big goal would be to sell combo packages for internet and streaming. Telekom is already taking a similar approach with its Magenta offer. Among other things, all the games of the upcoming World Cup will be shown there.
It is currently not known how far the negotiations have progressed. A concrete purchase price can only be speculated at the moment. Experts are currently assuming around one billion euros.
