Smic: the CGT wants an increase to 2000 euros gross

The secretary general of the CGT Philippe Martinez also claims in The Parisian that the branch minima are automatically raised to the level of the Smic when the latter is reassessed.

After the re-election of Emmanuel Macron, and on the eve of the May 1 demonstrations, Philippe Martinez insists that we must not “leave a blank checkto the President of the Republic. In an interview with Parisian , the secretary general of the CGT dismisses the increase in the retirement age to 65, which he does not want to hear about. But he largely claims a revaluation of the Smic, “at 2000 euros gross“.

On May 1, the minimum wage will benefit from an automatic increase of 2.65%, or 33 euros net per month, thus bringing the minimum wage to 1645.58 euros gross monthly (i.e. 1302.64 euros net) for 35 hours of weekly work. Philippe Martinez recalls, however, that after the introduction of this increase, “a large majority of the branch minima will fall belowof the minimum wage. He cites, for example, “collective agreements for the hotel-café-restaurant branch“. On France Inter this Saturday, the union official indicated that when “the Smic increases, it would take an increase in the minimums of branches“, so that “all levels evolve in the same way“.

According to Philippe Martinez, financial aid is not a solution because it “are punctual“. The same is true with premiums that “butter the spinach” but who “are often spent right away“. He calls on the employees to strike for “demand wage increases“. “We need the widest possible mobilization», Underlines the secretary general of the CGT.
