Somalia: Six dead in Mogadishu restaurant explosion

MOGADISHU, April 22 (Reuters) – Six civilians died in an explosion at a seaside restaurant in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu on Friday, an ambulance service official told Reuters.

“So far we have transported six dead civilians and seven injured,” said Abdikadir Abdirahman, director of the Aamin ambulance service.

The Islamist al Shabaab movement claimed responsibility for the attack, with military operations spokesman Abdiasis Abu Musab telling Reuters it targeted “security agents and politicians from the apostate government”.

Authors of numerous attacks, the “shebab” declare themselves at war against the Somali government, which they want to overthrow, to establish a strict sharia in the country.

It is not known whether security and government officials, regular customers of the attacked restaurant, were among the victims.
