In two months, the mascot of SEGA will return to Sonic Frontiersa game that already divides players due to the phases of gameplay which had been released on the Web at the beginning of the summer, among others. However, the game producer is confident, perhaps rightly so since the most recent previews are already giving more desire, showing in particular more sets of the Starfall Islands and more classic levels in cyberspace, like in the trailer for the gamescom 2022. Now make way for a so-called “overview” video, which takes stock of the main elements of this adventure.
From the outset, the video reveals an unprecedented detail, namely the fact that sonic goes to Starfall Islands to search for the Chaos Emeralds in the company of Tails and Amy, the latter having been seen prisoner in the recent trailer. Except that their arrival will not be smooth since they will be caught in a dimensional portal, our blue hedgehog then finding himself in cyberspace. He will succeed in escaping from it and it is then that he will discover the first island of the game, Chronos. His goal will then be to look for his missing friends and solve the mysteries of the area, linked to an ancient civilization.
We will therefore be entitled to both linear levels and gameplay in wide open areas as already shown, allowing to discover the world in the desired order. In addition to combat and exploration, there will be side quests to complete, notably to find our lost friends, while solving puzzles will increase the power and defense of sonic by rewarding us with objects, or by revealing access to new areas. Access to cyberspace will be well guarded by bosses that we will have to defeat to recover the mechanisms activating the portals. By completing the virtual levels, we will then obtain keys needed to open the receptacles containing the Chaos Emeralds.
On the fighting side, sonic will even be entitled to his skill treewith powers to unlock and improve, such as the new skill Race-loop. He can dodge, perform parries and counters, as well as various combos, but if you don’t like that, a mode Auto will do it for you at the touch of a button.
With all these details, Sonic Frontiers already gives much more desire, it now only remains to wait until November 8 to discover it on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Switch and PC. You can pre-order it on Amazon at a price of €59.99.
