Air conditioning is no longer in the odor of holiness in Spain. The Council of Ministers on Monday approved a battery of measures aimed at reducing energy consumption, as in several European countries. The most emblematic, which will come into force next week, concern the minimum summer temperature that the government now requires in all buildings open to the public. Administrations, but also shops, hotels, restaurants, cinemas, museums or even train stations and airports must not lower the temperature below 27°C. A few exceptions are provided for: hospitals, schools or even hairdressing salons. In winter, it is on the contrary a maximum that the executive will impose in these same places: 19 ° C.

It is also forbidden to leave the doors open, to avoid heating the streets in winter and wasting energy in summer. Establishments will also have to hang thermometers…
