Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse is full of easter-eggs and other references. Have you spotted those concerning the MCU in the cinema?
Produced under the leadership of Sony Pictures Animation, Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse does not prevent us from offering us several nods to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, owned by Disney.
SPOILER ALERT, THE FOLLOWING REVEALS ELEMENTS OF THE SPIDER-VERSE PLOT. IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW ANYTHING BEFORE YOU HAVE SEEN THE FILM, MOVE ON.
TOBEY MAGUIRE AND ANDREW GARFIELD
First of all, the most obvious references concern the various Spider-Man having officiated on the big screen in live action. If the Weaver of Tom Holland does not appear, we can see in particular some small sequences of the trilogy of Sam Raimi with Tobey Maguire in Spider-man. Andrew Garfield is also in the game via a few scenes from The Amazing Spider-Man diptych.

JK SIMMONS IN JAMESON
Actor JK Simmons, who played the unforgettable Daily Bugle boss J. Jonah Jameson in the Sam Raimi movies, makes a voice cameo in Spider-Verse. He lends his voice to the different variants of Jameson present in the multiverse. We see it in particular on Earth 65, explaining how Spider-Man is a threat to society.
In the Lego sequence, the character is also present, chanting lines of dialogue taken from the Spidey trilogy by Sam Raimi. Finally, towards the end of the film, Jameson’s bell is heard again on Earth 42. He introduces us to the infamous organization of supervillains: the Sinister Six Cartel.

THE LITTLE INTELLO
Even if he is not physically present, Tom Holland is mentioned during an exchange between Miles Morales and Miguel O’Hara. The young Spidey wants to join the Spider-Hero team, which the boss of the team does not see favorably.
“You will never be able to be part of the Spider-Team. And especially that nobody talks to me about Doctor Strange or the little nerd from Earth 199999!” This sentence uttered by O’Hara obviously refers to the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

THE HIDDEN TASK
The Task is one of the main enemies of this Spider-Verse. His power gives him the ability to create holes to be able to wander through dimensions. During a sequence presenting his origin story, the bad guy utters a sentence almost similar to that, which has become cult, of Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man: “The power of the sun in the palm of my hand.”

A second nod to Doc Oc can be heard as Miles Morales is chased by the entire Spider-Hero team. In his escape, he passes through a training center filled with supervillains. There he meets Octopus who challenges him in the same way as in Sam Raimi’s film: “Hello, Peter.”

PETER AND MJ
Another reference to the first Spider-Man starring Tobey Maguire lurks in the Spider-Verse. Miles Morales and his accomplice Gwen Stacy find themselves at one point in the same position as Peter Parker and MJ during the famous upside-down kiss in the rain sequence.

In the animated film, no kiss but a more down to earth consideration for Miles: he is spying on his partner to obtain information on the multiverse. Obviously, beyond the MCU, Spider-Verse is full of references and nods to the Marvel universe, whether in comics, films or series.
Spider-Verse has been in theaters since May 31. It attracted nearly 120,000 theatrical viewers on its first day of operation.
