Splinter Cell Remake: The director of the project leaves Ubisoft

After years without news of the series, Ubisoft recently formalized the start of construction of a remake of the first Splinter Cell. We learned recently that the publisher was still in the recruitment phase, with the search for a screenwriter capable of rewriting the story of Sam Fischer with a more modern tone. But Ubisoft will now have to look for a new director, since David Grivel has just left his post and announced his departure from the publisher.

The director leaves

VGC reports that the interested party announced that he was leaving the project via his LinkedIn page, stating only that he was embarking ” in a new adventure “. As a reminder, Grivel worked for 11 years at Ubisoftin particular on Splinter Cell Blacklist and Ghost Recon Future Soldier before working on licenses Assassin’s Creed and far cry.

We therefore do not know what is going on behind the scenes, but Ubisoft will now have to do without the director, and look for a new figurehead for this remake. So don’t expect to see this project land in the next few months (expect a few years rather), since we doubt that it is still very advanced. And this departure obviously does not help anything.
