Staff shortage due to Corona – These transport companies are reducing their operations – News

  • Due to the high number of staff failures due to Corona, other transport companies in Switzerland are forced to thin out their timetables.
  • Affected are lines of the Zurich VBZ, the Léman Express and the Freiburg TPF.
  • The Léman Express will cancel lines L2 and L4 between Coppet VD and Annemasse F over the weekend until Monday, as the SBB announced on Thursday. In some departments there are no longer any reserve staff.
  • As early as Wednesday, five trains on the Léman Express had to be canceled at the last minute due to illness.

Zurich and Freiburg also affected

Due to too many staff absent due to illness, the Zurich public transport company (VBZ) announced on the same day that they would completely stop operating tram line 15. Ferry passengers have to expect longer travel times.

And the Freiburg transport company TPF also decided on Thursday to thin out their timetable on two bus routes in the Freiburg city network due to a corona-related staff shortage. From Monday the buses will circulate on the two lines every 10 minutes instead of every 7.5 minutes.

Already on Tuesday, the Treni Regionali Ticino Lombardia SA (Tilo) announced that some connections between Chiasso and Como and between Como and Varese were canceled due to sick train drivers. Affected is the S10, which connects Biasca with Como via Bellinzona.
