An exact date has not yet been announced, but “Star Trek: Discovery” season 5 should be streaming on Paramount+ sometime in April 2024. It is the final season of the series and this one consists of 10 episodeswhose titles have now been announced and provide clues to a return to the Mirror Universe!

As TrekMovie reports, the episodes were registered with the Writer’s Guild of America, and of course the corresponding screenwriters were also listed. It may still be the case that the titles change before the release of the upcoming episodes, but that remains to be seen.

These are the 10 episode titles of “Star Trek: Discovery” Season 5

  • Star Trek: Discovery Season 5, Episode 1 – “Red Directive” written by Michelle Paradise
  • Star Trek: Discovery Season 5, Episode 2 – “Under the Twin Moons” written by Alan McElroy
  • Star Trek: Discovery Season 5, Episode 3 – “Jinaal” written by Kyle Jarrow & Lauren Wilkinson
  • Star Trek: Discovery Season 5, Episode 4 – “Face the Strange” written by Sean Cochran
  • Star Trek: Discovery Season 5, Episode 5 – “Mirrors” written by Johanna Lee & Carlos Cisco
  • Star Trek: Discovery Season 5, Episode 6 – “Whistlespeak” written by Kenneth Lin & Brandon A. Schultz
  • Star Trek: Discovery Season 5, Episode 7 – “Erigah” written by M. Raven Metzner
  • Star Trek: Discovery Season 5, Episode 8 – “Labyrinths” written by Lauren Wilkinson & Eric J. Robbins
  • Star Trek: Discovery Season 5, Episode 9 – “Lagrange Point” written by Sean Cochran & Ari Friedman
  • Star Trek: Discovery Season 5, Episode 10 – “Life, Itself” written by Kyle Jarrow & Michelle Paradise

It is noticeable that showrunner Michelle Paradise co-wrote the final episode. It was recently revealed that she also had “no idea” that the series would end with season 5.

The script had to be adjusted again afterwards. Finally, the new scenes had to be filmed in extensive reshoots. Will it be noticeable at the end that the episode wasn’t actually planned as a series finale?

In contrast to “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds”, “Star Trek: Discovery” has a continuous plot and no individual adventures in each episode. The plot revolves around a kind of treasure hunt. The logline reads as follows.

Captain Michael Burnham and the crew of the USS Discovery investigate a mystery that sends them on an epic adventure across the galaxy to find an ancient power whose very existence has been deliberately hidden for centuries. There are other parties on the prowl too… dangerous enemies who are desperate to claim the prize for themselves and will stop at nothing.

Synopsis of “Star Trek: Discovery” Season 5

Most titles give little clue as to how the plot unfolds, but there is a clue worth pursuing!

Will Episode 5 return to the Mirror Universe?

The fifth episode is titled “Mirrors” and suggests that the crew of the USS Discovery is heading back to the mirror universe. In the first season of “Star Trek: Discovery,” the crew spent a large part of the season in the mirror universe.

The mirror universe

The Mirror Universe is a parallel universe in which there are variants of the “Star Trek” characters we know, but in most cases they are evil. In the Mirror Universe there is no Federation, but the Terran Empire, which wants to subjugate the entire universe. There is fear and violence. The mirror universe made its first appearance in 1967 in the “Star Trek” episode “A Parallel Universe”.

Since Kovich (David Cronenberg) has repeatedly shown interest in the parallel universe and will take on a larger role in season 5, in which he even joins the crew of Discovery for a mission aboard the spaceship, it stands to reason that the mirror universe is still there will appear once.

Unfortunately, the other titles cannot be interpreted without further information; you have to wait for the release in the stream in the Paramount+ news program. By the way, “Discovery” season 5 won’t be the only Trek highlight in 2024, we’ll list all the new “Star Trek” releases for you!
