Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment are targeting March 17, 2023 for the release of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. It is the direct sequel to Fallen Order.
A new Star Wars-related video game is coming. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the sequel to Fallen Order, which made a very strong impression when it was released at the end of 2019. The title will of course take up the recipe that ensured the success of the first opus, by deepening the gameplay and exploiting a more successful graphics engine. Fans will be thrilled.
What will be the characters of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor ?
Cal Kestis will obviously be at the center of the plot, since the game revolves around his epic. The young man is still trying to flee the Galactic Empire and especially the Emperor, who ordered the massacre of the Jedi order. As the trailer shows, the survivor is still accompanied by his trusty droid, BD-1. And for the others?
Considering the epilogue of Fallen Order, we can of course expect to meet the other occupants of the Stinger Mantis, a spaceship in which Cal Kestis travels. This therefore means the presence of Greez Dritus, the ship’s commander, but also Cere Junda, another Jedi who also escaped the great purge, and Marrin, a sister of the Night who joined the crew.
On the side of the villains, we should come across the Fifth Brother (a character that we see in the series Kenobi). His attendance has been confirmed. Perhaps we will also see other members of the Inquisitorius: after all, Cal Kestis has already faced some in Fallen Order. And maybe there will be a new face-to-face with Darth Vader. The encounter in the previous episode was great.
A new trailer for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
Electronic Arts took advantage of The Game Awards 2022 to release another trailer for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. It features Cal Kestis and his faithful robotic companion, the droid BD-1. The opportunity for the studio to present new gameplay elements and, surprise, an unexpected look for the young Jedi. This time, he let his beard grow.
Overall, Survivor takes place five years after the events of Fallen Order. The adventure takes place globally between episodes 3 and 4 of the films Star Wars, at a period equivalent to that of the series on Obi-Wan Kenobi. This is a time when the Galactic Empire continues to rise in power, posing an increased threat to the young man.
More demanding gameplay?
The gameplay fundamentals will remain with this new title: there will be a mix of exploration, platforming phases and, of course, fights where your skills with a lightsaber will be challenged. Fights announced as more technical than in Fallen Order, Besides. New attacks and parries with the sword, with or without the help of the Force, are on the program.

Which graphics engine will be used?
Fallen Order ran very well with Unreal Engine 4. But Respawn Entertainment, the studio that develops the game, and Electronic Arts, which publishes it, have chosen to go upmarket. Survivor will be entitled to a more modern graphics engine: Unreal Engine 5. The demonstration videos were already breathtaking. Its use in Fortnite turned out to be just as remarkable.
