Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will have a darker tone than the first episode

After increasingly insistent rumours, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor finally showed up at the Star Wars Celebration to present us with a teaser, highlighting a Cal Kestis in bad shape. This sequel revealed few details about its scenario, apart from the fact that the plot takes place five years after the events of Jedi: Fallen Orderbut the director of the game, Stig Asmussencomes to tell us a little more about the tone of this new episode.

A darker tone, but with better lighting

In an interview published on the official website of the saga Star Warsthe director is asked if this sequel will be more “ mysterious and threatening to which he replies:

Yeah, you guessed it […] The game is about survival. That’s why it’s called Jedi: Survivor. They are in dark times, and Cal and the crew are doing whatever it takes to stay alive. It could mean that they make connections with people who at other times might be considered disreputable.. Some of that is depicted in the trailer, and again, I don’t want to give anything away, but there’s definitely a sense of… I don’t want to spoil anything, sorry! »

We can then wonder who Cal will have to team up with to survive, but no doubt this will fuel many theories. In this same interview, Asmussen also mentions the advantage of building this suite only for the new generation of consoles, which offers more possibilities, with the importance of ray tracing :

I think the most important thing is ray-tracing, or lighting. This allows us to do real-time lighting, all the time, with fidelity far beyond anything we’ve ever produced before.. Since it’s real time, we can immediately see the changes as we adjust the lights. This means we have more time to tweak, we can iterate more, and we can get better results that look more cinematic. »

He also specifies that loading times will be minimaland that the team is currently working on the contributions that the DualSense could bring to the PS5 version of the game.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is expected on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series for 2023.
