Expected as the renewal of Bethesda Softworks, Starfield will ultimately have been a damp squib. The role-playing and action game in space was widely criticized at its launch and the title was deserted by players, there were only a little more than 5,000 yesterday on Steam. But, in the coming months, things should change.
Game director Todd Howard spoke at length with Kinda Funny Games on the occasion of a podcastthe opportunity for him to come back to certain points and reassure the players. The extension Shattered Space is now expected by the end of 2024we will therefore have to wait a few more months before discovering this additional paid content, but starting this week, Bethesda expected to unveil a major update for Starfield, which will add much-requested features, including city maps and more building options. The update should arrive first on PC via Steam in beta, before being released to all players a few weeks later.
Another element eagerly awaited by some fans, the Creation Kit was due to arrive at the start of the year. The tool to create mods on PC and Xbox Series X|S is not yet available, at least for everyone. Todd Howard states that THE Creation Kit is already used by some creators, we should have information “soon”although no release date has been revealed.
Finally, the game director discussed the display modes of Starfield on Xbox Series X|S, which should evolve in the future. For the moment, the title runs at only 30 fps on consoles. Microsoftbut Bethesda working on other options and settings, highly requested by players. The developers preferred to block the frame rate at 30 frames per second for better stability, but the game can display more fps, let’s hope that with these new modes, players can finally enjoy rendering at 60 fps.
