STOCK MARKET: The CAC 40 expected to rise at the opening, in limited volumes

PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones) – The Paris stock market is expected to open higher on Wednesday, with investors finding reassuring the words of United States President Joe Biden, who called on Americans to be vaccinated and tested against the Covid-19, without tightening travel restrictions linked to the pandemic. In addition, trade volumes should continue to decline as Christmas approaches.

At 8:30 am, the CAC 40 index futures contract was gaining 26.2 points, or 0.4%, according to data from broker IG.

The reluctance of many governments to impose a new strict containment before Christmas is perhaps linked to the fact that such a measure would risk being little respected by populations disillusioned in the face of the pandemic, notes Michael Hewson, analyst at CMC Markets.

In addition, many investors believe that the Omicron variant of the coronavirus will have “only a temporary impact on economic activity and should not be a problem for the overall positive trend” of the equity markets, believes for his part Ipek Ozkardeskaya , analyst at Swissquote.
