Stranger Things: the origins of the series told… in a play

While waiting for the fifth and final season, “Stranger Things” returns in the form of a play to tell the youth of a handful of characters.

While season 5 of Stranger Things will begin filming in May, the series is already making a comeback. Well almost. Netflix announces a prequel, not in the form of television fiction, but as a play.

The information is amazing and to say the least exciting since it will explore the young years of the adult characters and more particularly the origins of Henry Creel, also known as Vecna.

Entitled The First Shadow – The first shadow in French -, the piece is written by Kate Trefry, screenwriter on the original series, and carried by the Duffer brothers, the creators of the program.

Here is the synopsis:Hawkins, 1959. An ordinary town with ordinary problems. Young Jim Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob Newby’s sister makes fun of his radio show, and Joyce Maldonado wants to graduate to get the hell out of town. When a new student, Henry Creel, arrives, his family struggles to make a fresh start… Shadows of the past resurface.”

The statement shared by Netflix explains that this new story could hold “the keys to the end”. Does this mean the play will play a big part in Season 5? The first performance will be at the Phoenix Theater in London at the end of 2023.
