Launched last June, Street Fighter 6 has already been entitled to two additional paying fighters with Rashid in July then AKI in September. We will have to wait until the beginning of 2024 to find Ed and next spring for Akumawaiting for, Capcom has something else in stock that should please the community. In fact, during theEVO 2023we had a preview of four alternative costumes, outfits 3 which are finally being talked about again with a release date.
So, the 18 characters of roster of Street Fighter 6 will be entitled to these 3 costumes starting Friday, December 1st. Today’s trailer shows them off and really makes you want to own them. On the other hand, the publisher did not specify how to obtain them. Costumes 2 could be unlocked by playing the mode World Tourbut were also sold for 50 Fighter Coins each, i.e. €1. It would be surprising if these new appearances were offered, but wait & see.
What is certain is that those of the fighters of theYear 1 will be released at the same time asAkuma and that the Year 1 Ultimate Pass makes it clear that their outfits 3 are included, so you will not have to go back to checkout for these.
In addition, members of the design team spoke on the official website to present these new appearances, concept arts supporting.
- Kimberly – At first I struggled to find the right direction, but with the help of those around me, I was able to give shape to Kimberly’s idea of what she enthusiastically considers to be a “ninja”. I’m very honored to have been in charge of designing this outfit, as she is one of my favorite characters. I love her cute curvy hair and pants, and I hope you try it in the game!
- Jamie – His everyday clothes are casual, but he stands out when he needs to. The idea of him wearing formal Chinese clothing was decided early on and his politeness and his grandmother/master’s upbringing are conveyed through this outfit. Over-arranging and decorating this outfit would make it look out of place, and over-simplifying it would lack character, so it took a lot of time to find the right balance with the help of our Chinese team.
- J.P. -At first I was aiming for a more western style, like a black dress, but I went with this design because we thought it would be nice to have a Nayshall outfit referencing the storyline. I also wanted to see an older man fighting in a traditional costume, and I thought it would be a shame not to show some skin given that he is such an imposing character.
- Chun-Li – The concept of this outfit is to be Chun-Li’s casual outfit. I thought even her casual clothing would retain an ease of movement and elegance, so I combined loungewear that combines aspects of workout attire with a Chinese and Korean influenced jacket. The large slit shows her back when she moves, and the transparency adds a delicate touch when seen on screen. Her sweatpants were designed with a basketball jersey in mind with side buttons that can be undone at the waist to allow a character with thick thighs like Chun-Li to put them on more easily. I’ve also never seen Chun-Li wear baggy pants before, so I decided to give it a try.
- Ryu -I was thinking about a situation where Ryu was wearing normal clothes and I thought he could dress a little more like a regular person when he comes down from the mountain he was training to go to town. From there, I thought about what he was doing in town and imagined him going to the public baths, buying ingredients for his meals, and washing his kimono before returning to the mountains. We got the idea that Chun-Li criticizes Ryu for walking around town in his gi, so she decides to buy him a jacket. He also has a towel wrapped around his head that he wears after taking a bath, new bandages, jeans that have been washed so many times that the color has faded and look like white denim, and sandals top of the range offered to him by E. Honda.
- Manon – I was asked to design Manon’s casual outfit. The concept we came across was a noble outfit inspired by the French Revolution. I had other concepts in mind, like a ballet dancer costume, but after a lot of trial and error, I finally settled on this outfit. I wanted to turn the lower half of his body into a white horse and make him something like a centaur, but that idea was ultimately rejected.
- E.Honda – This costume is inspired by the concept of a tropical island vacation. I saw TV shows of sumo wrestlers taking vacations during their offseason and that’s when I got this idea. Its fun, casual aura and the shirt’s punchy pattern and color were designed to stand out and leave a lasting impression. I think the design fits E’s respect. Honda for Japanese culture.
- Dhalsim – I have the image of Dhalsim taking care and carrying handmade items that were gifted to him. He’s surprisingly sociable, so I designed him as if you might see him in the middle of town, having tea with a friend.
- Zangief – I was asked for a design to show his unlikely intellectual side and his wrestler-like stance. The design process went smoothly between the art director and me. I like the way his badge and watch assert his identity.
- Blanka – This version of Blanka-chan has been redesigned to differ from previous iterations. Initially, I wanted to try something different and initially considered a concept of “Blanka as a worker”, but ended up settling on this one. This design matches Blanka’s outfit 1.
- Ken – Ken lost a lot in this game, so I wanted to show him sporting a sleek and stylish look like the heir he is. Although every element of his outfit is quite simple, I like to think that he is wearing extremely precious fabrics. Since his leather jacket is closed, it might be a little difficult for him to move.
- Lily – Here’s Lily in her traditional Mexican outfit that she might wear to a local festival. I thought pants would be easier to wear and fit Lily’s personality better than a dress, so I designed this outfit taking inspiration from a mariachi costume. While maintaining the refreshing and courageous impression it conveys, I used items like a large sombrero, brightly colored flower ornaments and red ribbons to enhance its cuteness.
- Cammie – The red coat that Cammy wore in the Street Fighter II movie was so striking that I designed it for her to wear a red coat similar to the one she might wear while going undercover. I designed the coat in a more modern and functional style that I thought would suit her. I also gave him a pendant to symbolize the bond with his allies.
- Luke – This outfit appeared in SFV, but I came up with it after Luke’s design for SF6 was established. The concept of this outfit was “more aggressive” and “young and arrogant”. The stars on his forearms are tattoos he got every time he won an underground martial arts tournament or an official tournament, and he eventually had them removed because he was embarrassed when he found out. that his father had embroidered stars on his jacket for each comrade he had not been able to save. My favorite part of this design was the braces on his teeth which I hoped would express his immaturity and ferocity, making it look like he might come and bite you.
- Dee Jay – For this game, I wanted to emphasize the artist aspect of Dee Jay, so I designed this outfit thinking that he would have a great costume that would turn any place into a dance hall every time he wore it . His style is that he never forgets to be cheerful whenever he gets the chance.
- Juri – This outfit was based on the idea of what she lounges in at home. Her default outfit already gave a strong impression of what she might wear for casual wear, so we took into account her off-duty state and went with this model. I was careful not to dilute her aggressive and provocative aspects, even when she is off duty. One of the things I want to point out is his hair horns getting ruffled from sleeping in this outfit.
- Maria – This is her wedding dress. She is a character full of confidence, which is why several ideas for a magnificent evening dress were originally proposed. However, as her expression of love is a strong character trait, I wanted to use it directly as a concept for her outfit. To emphasize the strength of the character, we created a silhouette that extends downward and opted for a war goddess motif for the overall composition.
- Guile – I came up with this design based on the concept of what Guile would look like if he worked in a country bar when he was off duty. He has strong, broad shoulders, so even though he is wearing a sleeved shirt, I made it so that it clearly shows his shoulder lines. The pattern on his back is because he was in the Air Force. My goal was to create an everyday retro look that evokes a nostalgic aspect of Guile.
