Stromae: his new clip seen nearly 2 million times in a few hours

After presenting his new title “Hell” in the TF1 news last Monday, Stromae unveiled Wednesday evening the clip of this song on depression and his “suicidal thoughts”.

In less than 24 hours, the video shared on the Youtube platform has already accumulated nearly 1.8 million views. Very sober, the images reveal Stromae first in close-up, before offering a wider and wider shot of the Belgian star dressed all in white. Stromae interprets his poignant text, in which he reveals to have had “suicidal thoughts”, showing him successively impassive then tormented, briefly hitting his face, simulating a panic attack or screaming his despair, on a modest setting.

A first title after seven years of absence

“Hell” is the first track from his new album “Multitude”, scheduled for March 4th. This song about depression has already generated a lot of ink. Among the many reactions it has aroused, the Director General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, reacted on Twitter, thanking Stromae “for bringing up the difficult subject of suicide”. “It’s so important to ask for help when you are having difficulties and to support those who need help,” continued the latter.

“Multitude” marks Stromae’s return to the limelight after seven years away from the music scene, two hit albums – “Cheese” (2010) and “Racine Carrée” (2013) – a gigantic tour, of which he was left exhausted, and a burnout, which he had also mentioned publicly in April 2018.
