In an interview with Tele-Leisure, Michel Drucker unveiled behind the scenes of the show Can’t wait for Sunday, revealing in particular that a red telephone was hidden on the sofa so that he could contact the management if necessary.
The red sofa Can’t wait for Sunday sat empty for a few months. In September 2020, Michel Drucker discovered that he had contracted streptococcus which had “attack [sa] spleen, one of [ses] kidneys and part of [son] heart”. He then had to undergo a quadruple bypass, a heavy operation that took several hours and then required a long rehabilitation. But, after six months away from television sets, Michel Drucker has returned to Can’t wait for Sunday, on France 2 – ignoring the advice of doctors who “advised him not to return to TV for a year and a half”, he confided to the Parisian. “This return was morally important“, added the presenter. Since then, Michel Drucker has been recording the show for his greatest happiness (and that of the viewers).

In an interview with Tele-Leisure, Michel Drucker confided behind the scenes of Can’t wait for Sunday. In particular, he revealed that he did not use a headset and no teleprompter either. “I am part of the Léon Zitrone school”, he explained, before adding: “The headset is a prosthesis that has always distracted me. I don’t want to be dependent on it. And it’s exactly the same when I’m on stage in the theatre.” After returning to television, he indeed returned to the stage. Since Friday January 14, 2022, Michel Drucker has been playing his show From you to me, in Paris. He will then be on tour until mid-April. A return to the stage for which he has been extremely prepared (with abs and rowing machine, but also daily cycling session).
Without a headset, Michel Drucker cannot communicate with the control room. But he still has a way to contact them if necessary… “I have a graphic palette that is placed at my feet in the studio. I am told how much time is left. It is the only thing that appears on the palette”, he detailed, before adding: “And if I want to talk to the management, I have a red phone on the sofa. It is called the “Léon Zitrone telephone”. So I can call while a topic is broadcast.” Old.
