Since Tuesday evening, Ryan, a 5-year-old boy, has been stuck at the bottom of a very deep well in Morocco. So far the rescuers have not succeeded in extracting it.

The life of a young child is currently in the hands of rescuers. The accident occurred on the evening of February 1 within the small town of Bab Berred, in northern Morocco. Whereas Ryan, a 5 year old boyis quietly outside alongside his father, who is repairing a dry well, the boy slips unfortunately and falls to the bottom of the cavity, 32 meters deepreports the local website Le360.

A moment of inattention and Ryan finds himself stuck, without being able to go up. “It’s my well, I was fixing it, Rayan was next to me, at one point he fell. I didn’t realize it. We alerted the authorities and all the inhabitants are came to support us. Everyone is doing their best so that he comes out alive and that we can take him in our arms by the end of the day. But I won’t hide from you that me and his mother are dejected and very worried “said the father of the family interviewed by Le360, February 2, 2022, at the end of the afternoon.

A major mobilization

Quickly the Rescuers were dispatched to the scene to rescue the child. But the operation turns out to be particularly difficult. Response teams cannot descend directly because access is very narrow for their size. The diameter of the well does not exceed 45 centimeters. Therefore, according to information from the MAP press agency, no less than five diggers were requisitioned to dig a tunnel parallel to the well to reach the child, “to a depth of 16 meters”, indicates the local media. Moreover, from the start of the excavation operations, water and oxygen were delivered to the boy to keep him alive.

This situation has aroused the excitement of the inhabitants of Bab Berred, but also of all Morocco and even Internet users on social networks. the hashtag #saverayan (in Arabic) was created and it was among the top Twitter trends on Thursday, February 3. At present, operations are still continuing. The hope is still there!
