By posing together in the same outfits, these two influencers with different bodies want to prove that fashion is not a story of size.

Their videos have gone viral. On Tiktok, Denise Mercedes and Maria Castellanos post short videos in which they wear the same clothes. Only point that differs: the morphology. Denise makes a 44 and Maria a 34. And that is precisely the purpose of their approach: the two friends want to prove that fashion should not be limited to a story of size.

It is with a photo posted in 2019 that everything begins. On the photograph, the two young women wear an identical swimsuit with in legend “Two different body types, same bikini! She's wearing a size S and I'm wearing an XL and we're both beautiful. ” Very quickly, it becomes viral. The two young women then decide to embark on Tiktok as they explain to the media Brut, where they stage themselves in identical looks. The video has been viewed more than 1.5 million times. Denise and Maria then post a second small clip, by launching the hashtag #StyleNotSize ("The style, not the size"), this time viewed 12 million times. " We think we should try to find outfits that go up to a certain size. All sizes, so everyone can buy the look Says Denise.

Fighting grossophobia and impacting fashion

In the future, the two Americans would like to have a real impact in the fashion world. " We would like all brands to say, "Oh my God, there are a lot of women with different bodies" So that very good brands like Zara or the ones you find in stores when you walk into a mall all sizes », Says Maria. The two friends have already won some collaborations with Asos, American Eagle and Boohoo and hope to encourage brands to show moreinclusiveness and to celebrate all bodies. An approach that we can only welcome and encourage!
