DECRYPTION – Despite the tightening of the taxation of energy companies, the total return should not swell.
Announced with great fanfare several weeks ago, the “contribution” – or rather the “taxation” – of energy companies who derive profits from the explosion of prices on the markets should bring in big profits for the State. But, even today, we get lost on the exact amounts, even though billions of euros are at stake.
In the government, we insist: the State should, in total, pocket around 26 billion euros in 2023. The same amount as that estimated at the beginning of October. However, Bercy has since proceeded to an upward reassessment of financial income under, more specifically, the taxation of electricity operators.
