Surprise from Konami, Silent Hill: The Short Message is available now

Unveiled for the first time in September 2022, Silent Hill: The Short Message took advantage of the State of Play on January 31 to share his news. And not just any games since the horror game is already available on PlayStation 5. A nice surprise, and free too.

Silent Hill: The Short Message follows in the footsteps of Anita who, after receiving messages from her friend Maya, finds herself drawn to an old, dilapidated building, infamous for the suicides that have occurred there. Once inside, the young woman finds herself stuck and will quickly lose all bearings between the strange environment and cryptic messages on the phone. Especially since a deformed monster seems to haunt the place. Yet Maya’s message was clear, “Don’t move until you find it.” But the question is, what is Anita supposed to find.

Konami’s goal here, in addition to making players shiver, is to incorporate our contemporary problems into the title. Using the way people communicate online as well as on their phones, the studio is trying to see what role these habits might have in a psychological horror story. And above all the terrible impact they can have on people. Thus, the plot of Silent Hill: The Short Message
is particularly interested in school bullying by offering characters who have already suffered a lot.

We created characters who have lost a lot and suffered a lot. Minds that could be pushed into a downward spiral at the first slight inconvenience. But who, in the same way, could walk away from the precipice at the slightest sign of kindness towards them. »

Konami press release

A plunge into horror therefore but which wants, in its own way, to encourage players to persevere despite the difficulties encountered. Whether in the game or in their everyday life.
