Surprising find – World War II grenade discovered during construction work in Vienna

Police officers were called on Wednesday morning because an explosive grenade was found in a construction site during construction work in Vienna-Landstrasse.

Workers made the surprising discovery during construction work around 7:20 a.m. They immediately alerted the police. Before it arrived, they set up a barrier circle so that no one came close to the grenade. Grenade was transported away. Together with the demining service of the Austrian Armed Forces, the grenade was then removed without any further incident. This is how you should behave if explosives are found to remember the location and move to a safe distance. Objects and war material suspected of being explosive may also not be moved or manipulated.
