Survoltage, the app that helps individuals to better consume electricity by shifting their uses

A few weeks ago, the French discovered EcoWatt from Ademe and RTE, a service that provides real-time information in the event of voltage on the electricity network. Another free application designed by a startup from Isère will try to promote the non-consumption of energy.

Called Survoltage, it presents itself as a load shedding operator and is not linked to energy suppliers. This notion of load shedding consists of limiting the use of electricity during peak consumption, either by reducing or by shifting the use of the most energy-intensive appliances: electric heating, washing machine or dryer, etc. .

These efforts are made on a voluntary basis, but the user can count on the application to send him recommendations when consumption peaks approach, between 12 noon and 2 p.m. and then between 6 and 8 p.m. Survoltage can calculate the impact of gestures using the Linky household meter, to be configured when creating the account with the delivery point number and the associated Enedis account.

In addition to possibly seeing his electricity bill decrease, the user is credited with Ewatts points. Eventually, the startup hopes to be able to convert these points into euros, services or donations. The other objective is to erase the equivalent of the consumption of several coal-fired power stations, restarted to compensate for high demand on the electricity network, and thus prevent the emission of 4000 tonnes of CO2 at the end of the winter 2023/2024.

To hope to achieve its objectives, however, the startup needs a significant number of users to play the game, at least 50,000 according to its estimates. The app is available for free on both Android and iOS devices.
