Sylvie Meis: That's why your parents won't be at the wedding

The Dutch model Sylvie Meis has revealed that her upcoming wedding will take place without her parents. This is the reason.

On Saturday, September 19th, Sylvie Meis (42) will marry her fiancĂ© Niclas Castello (42) in Florence, Italy. However, two very important people in the Dutch model's life will not be there – her parents. Meis confirmed this in an interview with "Bild".

"Unfortunately, my father has had kidney disease for months, so it is not possible for his health to travel to Florence," explains the 42-year-old. The risk associated with a trip is simply too high due to the corona pandemic. Because of the risk of infection, her mother is staying in Belgium.

It "hurts us all very much"

It obviously hits Meis very much that her father and mother will not be there. "The fact that my parents can't be with us on this very important day is incredibly painful and hurts us all a lot," says the model. "The final decision brought many tears." Nevertheless, in a certain way, their parents can "be with us". The wedding is to be broadcast via live stream.

At least Meis' brother and of course her son Damian (born 2006), who comes from a previous marriage to footballer Rafael van der Vaart (37), should be there. The model had previously stated that her brother would lead her to the altar and her son would hand her over.
