It has a permanent place in the ProSieben program: The celebrity and lifestyle magazine "taff" will be 25 years old this Friday, May 29, 2020 (always from Monday to Friday at 5 p.m.). What does the name of the magazine mean and who is the longest-serving presenter? Here are the most interesting facts about "tough".
The beginnings
"Taff", the word stands for "daily, current, fresh, cheeky", was first broadcast in 1995. The magazine with short articles and weekly series has since been broadcast from Monday to Friday at 5 p.m. The topics of the very first program included an exclusive insight into the apartment of the recently arrested fraudster Jürgen Schneider, the highlight boxing match between Henry Mask (56) and Graciano "Rocky" Rocchigiani (1963-2018) and the presentation of new eco-coffins Cardboard and a hotel test.
Since 2017 there is also another edition called "taff weekend" on weekends (initially on Saturdays, since 2019 on Sundays at 5 p.m.). From 1998 to 1999 there was the show "taff Extra", which was moderated by Alexander Mazza (47) and later by Steven Gätjen (47) and showed a summary of contributions from the week. In 2012, the magazine took on a new look with a changed logo and studio. Today, the magazine has 127,000 Instagram subscribers and around 899,000 Facebook followers. In the young target group of 14- to 39-year-olds, according to ProSieben, "taff" is by far the most-watched tabloid magazine in Germany with an average market share of 18.2 percent.
The moderators
The magazine has made a number of changes in front of the camera, and the show has already had 15 regular moderators. "Taff" premiered with Sabine Noethen (1995-1997). This was followed by colleagues such as Steven Gätjen (1999-2001) as the first male moderator, Miriam Pielhau (2002-2005) or Stefan Gödde (2005-2009). The current rotating team includes Thore Schölermann (35), Annemarie Carpendale (42), Daniel Aminati (46), Rebecca Mir (28), Viviane Geppert (28) and Christian Düren (29).
Carpendale has been with us since 2015 and is the longest serving "taff" presenter. In 2008 she also moderated the lifestyle magazine "red." The youngest presenters so far are Rebecca Mir and Viviane Geppert, who were only three years old when "taff" was born. Düren was the last to join the "taff" team in 2017. His colleague Daniel Aminati had to face a special challenge on August 29, 2013: He jumped on the treadmill and then moderated a complete show as a thank you for a donation campaign on "Red Nose Day".
The magazine and the celebrities
But some celebrities also slipped into the "taff" moderator role. Bonnie Strange (33) took over from 2015 to 2016 to represent Annemarie Carpendale and Rebecca Mir. Joko Winterscheidt (41) and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf (36) were forced to their luck and had to run as punishment for a lost edition of "Joko & Klaas against ProSieben" on June 17, 2019 for one episode. Stefanie Giesinger (23), as the winner of "Germany's next Topmodel", also led through the one-hour show in 2014.
Daniela Katzenberger (33) and "taff" have a very special connection: After she first appeared in public as a "picture" girl, she tested various gadgets for the evening magazine and thus paved the way for her TV career. Fernanda Brandao (37) and Jana Ina Zarrella (43) also appeared in contributions and were able to look forward to a career push.
