On February 24, Tahar Rahim will be on stage at the Olympia to preside over the 48e Caesar ceremony. The 41-year-old artist succeeds veteran screenwriter Danièle Thompson.

Tahar Rahim wrote a page in the history of the Caesars
On the small screen, his filmography is just as impressive. Tahar Rahim made a name for himself across the Atlantic in 2018 with LoomingTower Amazon Prime’s account of al-Qaeda’s emergence on FBI radar in the years leading up to 9/11, 2021. It also has credits to the miniseries The Eddy by Damien Chazelle on Netflix, a hymn to the power of jazz in today’s multicultural Paris. Tahar Rahim’s wife, actress Leïla Bekhti played the leading role. In 2021, Tahir caused a stir as French serial killer Charles Sobhraj in The snake a BBC-Netflix co-production.
Revealed to the public in 2009 in a prophet by Jacques Audiard, Tahar Rahim wrote with this prison chronicle the history of the Caesars. The actor had won in quick succession in 2010 the statuettes for best actor and best male hope. This double had caused a reform of the regulations making it impossible to combine nominations in these two categories.
No master of ceremonies assigned to the César 2023
The Caesars approach this 48e edition, already under the sign of some turbulence. On Monday, the Academy announced its decision to withdraw, for its next ceremony, those implicated “for acts of violence”, in the wake of the Sofiane Bennacer affair, a young actor starring in the film The Almond Trees indicted for rape.
Losing audiences, often criticized for their length (like their American cousins at the Oscars), this 48e award ceremony tries to innovate in terms of presentation. According to The Parisian, this 2023 vintage will not have a master of ceremonies, but a dozen artists, including Jérôme Commandeur, Ahmed Sylla and Léa Drucker, will provide entertainment. The Honorary Cesar will be awarded to American director David Fincher, maestro of Seven, Fight Club and Gone Girl. Nominations will be announced on January 23.
