The Munich "Tatort" commissioners Batic and Leitmayr just celebrated 30 years of service. Four new films show: No end in sight!

After Commissioners Ivo Batic (Miroslav Nemec, 66) and Franz Leitmayr (Udo Wachtveitl, 62) celebrated their 30th anniversary in January 2021, the first continues to rely on the Bavarian cult investigators in the Sunday crime series. In spring 2021, three new "Tatort" episodes are expected to be shot with the Munich team. According to Bayerischer Rundfunk, they will be broadcast in the second half of the year. But that's not all.

A fourth crime thriller was shot at the end of last year. Because of the seasonal reference, it should be broadcast in Mardi Gras 2022. Although there are no specific broadcast dates yet, what the four new Munich thrillers are about, Bayerischer Rundfunk has already revealed. These plots are pending:

"Tatort: Dreams" (working title)

In a sleep research project, young talents are to be encouraged through targeted lucid dreaming, so-called "lucid dreaming". One young participant, however, begins to mix waking and dreaming experiences unnoticed. When the aspiring violinist from Munich comes to the police, she is not sure whether she might not have just murdered her friend from the orchestra, who had been missing for days.

Half a confession that is a headache. Batic and Leitmayr are faced with several puzzles. The investigations lead into a merciless orchestral world, in which people fight hard …

"Tatort: Auf Anfang" (working title)

A murder case with no suspects or witnesses. But the handwriting of the act is strongly reminiscent of a historic case by the Munich homicide squad. Only one of those involved is still alive, but suffering from dementia. In close cooperation with a renowned neuropsychologist, a criminological pilot project is started: The crime scene of the time is to be resurrected in a built setting – the demented test person is to move in this setting.

The commissioners hope to be able to elicit valuable information from him. But in the course of the experiment, Batic and Leitmayr reveal deeper abysses than initially assumed …

"Tatort: Miracles occur again and again" (working title)

The investigation into the corpse of a clergyman leads Batic and Leitmayr to Röttlingen. The dead man last worked there as an auditor for the Archdiocese of Munich. The godly life on site only seems contemplative at first glance. Evidence quickly accumulates that the perpetrator is actually to be found behind the monastery walls.

But what is the motive for this act? Were there irregularities in the books that the auditor threatened to uncover? No less irritating are the two clerical investigators from Rome, who, parallel to Batic and Leitmayr, conduct their own investigations behind the monastery walls. Are the church cops really only interested in the dead auditor? Or are there other secrets lurking behind the monastery walls?

"Tatort: Kehraus"

Carnival in Munich. The body of a 70-year-old man is found on a staircase on the banks of the Isar. The first trace leads to "Irmis Stüberl", where the man apparently quarreled with an "Indian" before. The most important witness of the dispute is a "Little Red Riding Hood", who is clearly too drunk to be questioned that evening. Batic and Leitmayr therefore take it with them without further ado.

Silke Weinzierl (Nina Proll), as the "Little Red Riding Hood" is called, is very angry the next morning. Apparently she slept really badly in the sobering cell. No, she doesn't know the man and doesn't know why he quarreled with the "Indian". And the "Indian"? She doesn't know either – even if she made out with him that evening. It quickly becomes clear: Batic and Leitmayr are not only dealing with a tricky case, but also with a very unusual woman.
