Mini trailers in the so-called teardrop shape have been around since the 1930s. Manufacturer ROC is now giving the whole thing new impetus.

They are often seen on campsites and behind smaller towing vehicles, compact teardrop-shaped caravans. US manufacturer ROC Trailers used the popular teardrop trailer as a model for the new product called ALD09.

However, the new product has clear edges and therefore a more geometric shape with more volume than the rounded model. The trailer, which weighs between 540 and 907 kilograms, is intended to attract the interest of electric car owners in particular.
As with Camp365’s living cabin intended for electric pickups, the range of the electric car (or the consumption of the combustion engine) should only increase slightly if possible.
Moving away from the teardrop shape has advantages. Because the curved roof has been straightened, it can now serve as a platform for an additional roof tent if desired. Or you can transport bulky sports equipment or e-bikes on a luggage rack.
If desired, the manufacturer can install two doors so that access to the interior is always guaranteed. The interior is not for people with claustrophobia, but depending on the equipment chosen, it offers everything a camper’s heart desires. The 1.45 x 2.03 meter bed can easily accommodate two adults. There is also a kind of bunk bed for children in the form of a shelf.
Price and availability
The ROC ALD09 can now be ordered from the manufacturer. The basic version costs 17,000 US dollars (15,900 euros), but the list of accessories is long, so the 20,000 euro mark should be exceeded quickly.
