Technip Energies signs an agreement with Eni in plastic recycling

(AOF) – Technip Energies (a leading engineering and technology company in the energy transition) and Versalis, Eni’s chemical business, have signed an agreement to integrate the Hoop purification technologies from Versalis and Pure.rOil and Pure.rGas from Technip Energies by developing a technological platform for the advanced chemical recycling of plastic waste. This project aims to create a theoretically endless plastic recycling loop, producing new virgin polymers suitable for all applications and identical to polymers from fossil raw materials.

Versalis will bring its Hoop technology, a pyrolysis process that allows the recovery of mixed plastic waste with high performance in terms of yield, recovery and flexibility in the management of different types of raw materials.

Technip Energies will bring its expertise in the design of ethylene furnaces and steam crackers, with more than 700 steam crackers worldwide operating under its own license.

The technologies integrated by Versalis and Technip Energies will help support a circular economy by reducing the overall carbon footprint in the polymer value chain.
