(Boursier.com) – The telecom sector took a nosedive this weekend, weighed down by information from ‘Bloomberg News’. The agency says Amazon plans to offer low-cost or possibly free mobile phone service to its Prime subscribers in the United States. An announcement that could upset the industry if it were to be confirmed. The major American telecom operators are not the only ones to suffer from this information since the Stoxx Telecom index fell by 2.3%, its biggest drop in one day since February. Deutsche Telekom is particularly under pressure (-4.7%), while Amazon’s decision could potentially harm its American branch T Mobile. In France, Orange lost 0.9% while the CAC40 jumped 1.6%.
