(CercleFinance.com) – Telefonica announced on Thursday the acquisition of Geprom, a Spanish engineering and technology company that specializes in industrial automation and the digital transformation of factories.
Through this acquisition, concluded through its subsidiary Telefonica Tech, the Iberian telecommunications operator says it wants to strengthen its activities in the Internet of Things (IoT) and mass data (‘big data’).
The objective is also to better position the group in the manufacturing industry sector, a market deemed ‘key’.
Telefonica Tech – which brings together companies from businesses such as cloud, cybersecurity or blockchain – saw its revenues climb by more than 25% over the first nine months of the year.
Geprom claims a workforce of around 40 professionals.
