will have waited for the penultimate day of the year to push the new version of its applications. As usual, this one comes with a mountain of new features. And among them, two that were long awaited.
Available on virtually every other messenger, the reactions are finally arriving on Telegram! Just like the beacons spoilers, which will save some and some the displeasure of disclosure.
The reactions finally on Telegram
Thanks to the 12e and Telegram’s last update of the year, users can finally “react” to messages that have been published. As on Messenger, Signal or Discord, you just have to keep your finger pressed on a message to assign it an emoji signifying your feeling.
For the moment, 11 emojis are available to react to a message. From the very classic thumbs up, through the heart or the flame, to poop or vomit. There is something for every taste !
Small originality of Telegram (which loves this kind of effects): the addition of a reaction is accompanied by an animation which will amaze the participants of the conversation.
The tag spoilers to the rescue
Everyone knows this kind of situation. Following the release of a highly anticipated film or a thrilling series, debriefings are well underway in the focus groups. And it’s not uncommon for a heated conversation to end up with us spoiler all or part of the plot.
To avoid this, Telegram introduces markup that masks the content (or part of the content) of the message. Thus, people who want to read it only have to click on it to make it appear, without disturbing others.
Note, however, that Telegram could have found a more convenient way to integrate this functionality. To do this, you must select a message being written, then touch the button allowing you to add bold, italics or an underline, and then select ” spoiler “.
QR Codes, on-the-fly translation and new macOS theme
In addition to these major new features, the latest version of Telegram also adds the possibility of translating a message directly from its context menu (on iOS, requires iOS 15 at least). You can also manage a QR Code referring to your Telegram profile and thus share it with others.
Finally, the Telegram application for macOS is modernizing and seeing all its context menus redesigned in the spirit of mobile applications.
As usual, new interactive emojis are also arriving in messaging.
