Telekom informs: More than 500,000 households can surf faster

Telekom is continuing to push fiber optic expansion. As part of this, the Internet speed was increased for 516,000 households in September. As “Teltarif” reports, there are now 4.5 million fibre-optic enabled households in Germany.

Where FTTH, i.e. a fiber optic line to your own home, is installed, Telekom offers tariffs with speeds of up to one gigabit per second. However, FTTC is still much more common. The glass fiber extends to the junction box in the street. From there, the existing copper cables provide customers with high-speed Internet of up to 250 megabits per second using vectoring technology.
