This is a major and welcome update for Orange Telephone users. The application now offers an effective solution for filtering sales calls considered unwanted. In recent days, a feature has appeared offering the possibility of directly blocking reported numbers from your smartphone.
An anti-spam feature that references 6 million numbers on Orange Telephone
In its fight against telephone canvassing, Orange Telephone has gained depth by using a database in which numbers identified as malicious and canvassing calls are referenced. The user is notified upon receipt of a potentially disturbing or fraudulent call.
The recent update integrates ARCEP number ranges to strengthen protection against fraud and abuse linked to automated cold calling. Notable fact: you can ensure that you do not even receive the unwanted call, if it is referenced in the database, which is participatory. It’s up to you to configure, or not, the automation of the task.
Orange Telephone is thus enriched with six million new numbers, to better filter unwanted calls and strengthen both the experience and peace of mind for users. Rarely for applications of this type, Orange Telephone obtains an average of 4.2 out of 5 on Google Play, for 47,000 reviews and more than a million downloads.
What are the rules for cold calling?
Telephone canvassing meets increasingly strict rules. Salespeople can only reach you using numbers starting with 0162, 0163, 0270, 0271, 0377, 0378, 0424, 0425, 0568, 0569, 0948, 0989. Since 1er January 2023, the prefixes 06 and 07 can no longer be used by people or companies who approach you.
For a little over a year also, telephone canvassing has only been authorized during the week, Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., then from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. In other words, outside these hours, but also on weekends and public holidays, you can no longer be disturbed.
