Nationwide disruption at Vodafone

The cable network operator Vodafone is apparently struggling with enormous technical problems, nationwide. In the late morning, thousands of customers report that they are having difficulties. The fixed network is particularly affected, but many also complain about the failure of the Internet.

There are currently massive technical problems in Vodafone’s cable network. The provider announced on its website: “There are currently impairments to all cable services in Berlin and the surrounding area”. The colleagues in technology were informed, it was said. In fact, the difficulties do not seem to be limited to the federal capital.

It started around 11:30 a.m.: More and more Vodafone users reported their disruptions on the platform, and the mobile communications giant seemed to be having its first problems. A good hour later, the reports reached their highest level: over 28,000 people affected reported their failures, as can be read on the “alle disturbances.de” website. The landline network was particularly affected, but judging by the comments, the Internet didn’t seem to be working either.

For example, a customer complained on “alle disturbances.de”: “Everything is dead. In the middle of work.” Other customers spoke of a “complete failure”. The situation looked particularly problematic in the big cities: most cases seemed to have been reported in Berlin, Stuttgart, Munich, Frankfurt and Hamburg.

It is unclear when Vodafone customers will be able to make calls and surf again without any problems. The number of fault reports has dropped noticeably since around 1:30 p.m. Around 2:30 p.m., almost 2,500 fault reports were recorded. A few days ago Vodafone had massive connection problems.
