Barefoot and handcuffed, Terry K. * (36) leaves a plane and gets into a white van. The alleged kidnapper of Cleo S. * (4) was transferred to a maximum security prison in Perth, Australia on Friday. He had been in custody since Wednesday.
The reason for the transfer is, according to “The West Australian”, that Terry K. had previously injured himself twice in his cell. Recordings from Wednesday show how he is brought to the hospital by an ambulance from the Carnarvon police station. Apparently he had sustained a head injury.
Mother claims her son beat up Terry K. in jail
However, it does not seem clear where the injuries actually came from. A mother of an inmate claims that her son Terry K. has beaten “green and blue”, as reported by “The Mirror”.
Her son got angry and freaked out when he learned that Terry K. had been arrested for Cleo’s kidnapping. However, Western Australian Police were unwilling to comment on the woman’s allegations.
A “weird owl” who collects Bratz dolls
On Thursday, the suspect Terry K., who collects Bratz dolls and is known to his neighbors as a strange owl, had to appear in court for the first time. There he was charged with kidnapping or luring away a child under the age of 16.
According to the police, the 36-year-old acted “completely alone” when Cleos was kidnapped. The police assume an unplanned and spontaneous kidnapping of the girl. The man was not known to be a sex offender.
A hundred police officers were on the lookout
The alleged kidnapper brought Cleo under his control on October 16 while on a camping trip. He held the little girl in his home for 18 days. On Wednesday, Cleo was rescued from a room in the house by investigators – she was physically safe.
Her rescue ended a kidnapping case that had kept all of Australia in suspense for days. Her mother’s desperate pleading for help had sparked a wave of sympathy.
A hundred police officers searched for the little girl from the air, on the water and on the ground, and countless volunteers combed the nearby bushland for possible clues. Cleo’s rescue had brought tears to the eyes of even seasoned police officers. (gin / AFP)
