TEST Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, make new with old

Dotemu and Tribute Games join hands in order to sell dreams to players who have known Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles: Turtles in Time. Thus, a certain Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge was born on the consoles of Sony Interactive Entertainmentof Microsoftof nintendo and on PC, and is greatly inspired by the title of Konami dating from 1991. A colorful and pixelated universe, all in 2D, there is clearly something to tickle the old timers. We have finished this new adventure, it is time to give you our impressions.

The animations are hilarious and fun.

As we have just said, the visual part exhibits sparkling 2D pixels and is tantalizing. The modeling of Ninja Turtles and enemies is really flawless, and the animations are wacky and fun. The sets are varied, and there is always something going on around here, often referencing the 90s cartoon. Moreover, the introduction made us vibrate and resumes the music of yesteryear with a somewhat old-fashioned image. A little negative in all this? We would not have been against adding filters to push the “antique side of video games”by providing scan lines or even different colors (a bit duller).

On the soundtrack side, we have electro and dynamic themes that make you want to move your booty on the sofa. The music also takes up some well-known notes to amuse the aficionados of the series. The chants fit perfectly with the levels, it’s well thought out and enjoyable. In addition, we are entitled to a few US voices to complete the whole thing, but we would have appreciated having a French dubbing to amuse our esgourdes.

Getting started with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is super simplistic and accessible. So we have fun with a beat ’em up boosted where we can achieve more or less devastating sequences. Just hit the “attack” button to initiate explosive combos that leave opponents no respite. Nice thing, we can dodge an assault and launch a rear offensive.

Too bad to only offer redundant moments.

In addition, a power gauge is lying around and allows you to explode all your rage to bludgeon the surrounding pests. During our adventure, we earn points that boost the faculties of our hero. Thus, we unlock new abilities that greatly serve our progress. the gameplay is entertaining and therefore evolves a bit to avoid monotony.

In this production, we move forward, beat and destroy bosses to achieve our ends. However, there are certain phases where we get on a kind of flying skateboard where we have to dodge obstacles while getting into the pile of enemies. And ? That’s all… We would not have been against taking control of the vehiclesas the Turtle Van, and launch into frenzied sequences. Too bad to only offer redundant moments.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shredder's Revenge 25 08 2021 screenshot 4Something to consider, each character has their own abilities. Some are more resistant, others stronger, or even faster; we are spoiled for choice to satisfy us. Of course, the most interesting point of this title is to be able to play it with friends. So certainly, when we are “too much” in the image, it is not very readable, but the game is ultra enjoyable and the games become furious after a few minutes.

The story is basic. The Statue of Liberty is once again under attack, the clan of Football seeks to reform krangand Shredder wants revenge. We progress in a small world map referring to the game Ninja Turtle of the NES. To reach the end of the tunnel, count a little less than… 3 hours.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge really is a nice homage to 90s productions, but lacks small things on the right, on the left for it to be perfect.
