TEST The Sims 4: Werewolves, beware of the full moon!

New lunar cycle, transformations, open mini-world… These are some of the features that the game pack offers werewolves. Highly anticipated by the gamer community of The Sims 4, does it live up to expectations? We tested the pack and here is our opinion.

No new “Sim” traits on the horizon in CAS.

The tool CASE has many characteristics related to werewolves. First of all, a new aspiration, Lycanthropyappears: after the validation of the first step during which our SIM must among other things become a werewolf, then we must choose from four options that allow us to explore the pack in more depth andalso extend its lifespan. On the other hand, no new “Sim” trait on the horizon in the CASE. Nevertheless, the bestial forms of sims gradually acquire “temperaments” as they evolve random characters that influence the werewolf’s fury level. It makes up for it!

The clothing and accessories offered have a very rock/punk style overall with torn parts and piercings. The game also provides the ability to fully customize the beastly version of the SIM, down to the smallest details of his fur. It is therefore possible to obtain a totally unique werewolf, which is a very good point. Despite everything, we could reproach a sometimes too “nice” appearance, which somewhat affects the credibility of the werewolf. Admittedly, the franchise defends itself by staging two packs, the wild fangs and the Moon Collectivethe latter advocating a life in harmony with nature and humans, far from the image that we could have of the big bad werewolf.


Whether through new furniture or the city of Moonwood Mill, this game pack emanates a rather punk atmosphere, a little “outsider”. On the fashion side Constructionwe mainly find elements for the bedroom, the dining room and the exterior. Two spirits emerge: a rock side with broken mirrors, slightly grunge posters, marks to be placed on the floor and on the walls, then a bit softer sidewith children’s furniture made of recycled materials, in warm colors.

The mini-scenarios offered by the multiple-choice screens are rather interesting.

The city of Moonwood Millmeanwhile, represents a real mini open world : Indeed, there is only one district to explore, but it is well supplied. Certainly, the gameplay is a little hampered if we want to go to community or residential land, but rarely need to change land in the missions of the aspiration. It is a small town in the woods, by a lake. On the one hand we have urban spaceshaunt of wild fangsand on the other a pretty clearing at the foot of a huge tree, HQ of the Moon Collective. The urban spaces are really well done, with details such as trash strewn on the ground and tunnels with tagged walls. It is also possible to explore underground passages of which there are several entrances through the city. Of course our SIM can’t actually explore them as such, but through multiple choice screens. It’s a bit of a shame, but understandable: the card would have been huge! And then, the mini-scenarios offered by these screens are rather interesting and well-crafted.

One of the great novelties of the game pack werewolvesit is its lunar cycle. Indeed, this one lasts about a “Sim” week, which is relatively longespecially within the framework of the missions of the aspiration where we sometimes have to wait for the full moon, and its repercussions on the life of the sims are diverse: faster improvement of skills, deterioration of relationships, etc. It’s kind of our horoscope! One of the plants that must complete an aspiration mission, the moon petalcan only be harvested on a full moon night: better not to miss the boat, otherwise it’s off again for a week. This is both a good point, because the life of the game is lengthened, but it can also become frustrating if we miss the boat, for example by forgetting that the werewolf goes into “rage” mode during the full moon and that it is almost impossible to make him do anything except destroy furniture, intimidate others sims and howl. It therefore requires a little anticipation!

Hidden in the woods Moonwood Mill there is a somewhat spooky cabin. It is here that resides Greg, a solitary werewolf not really convenient. This one comes out of hiding on full moon nights to confront the other werewolves and maintain the rumors about him that the townspeople talk about. It is also possible to summon him through the panel at the entrance to his land. The good point is that its land is accessible in “open world” without the need for a loading screen, which makes the gameplay. It is also quite difficult to beat him. For this, we must progress as a werewolf through several “grades”. The system is pretty well balanced between progress and difficulty, the latter residing in the fact that actions that make progress also fill the fury gauge, which ends up making our SIM enraged and turn him into a werewolf.

Finally, The Sims 4: Werewolves does it meet expectations? As a whole, this pack is very interesting and has a good lifespan thanks in particular to the lunar cycle system. The appearance of werewolves and the fact that we can’t really explore the underground may make some people wince, but overall, the game pack werewolves worth it.
