People who always keep things tidy do things differently

Whether it’s a cupboard or a closet, everyone probably knows those corners of the apartment where there is simply too much stuff flying around and it always looks untidy and confusing – even though you try to stow away the little things accurately. In addition to regular clearing out, proper storage also helps to end the chaos. The Tetris trick could help – the basis is boxes.

The Tetris trick: stack the boxes and stow away the odds and ends

For the Tetris trick, transparent boxes with lids of different sizes are best. Tip: When buying, make sure that you buy them from one brand if possible, then the different sizes can be stacked on top of each other.

“But you can still see the chaos through the transparent boxes,” you might be thinking. Partially true. But the advantage is: You can see immediately what is stored in the boxes. Sure, you could also label each box, but then it becomes difficult if you want to add something new or take something else out.

First sort the odds and ends by topic

Before you start putting the little things in the boxes, put everything in front of you – yes, even if the living room floor is completely covered with stuff. And then you start sorting everything into categories and putting the matching pieces in a pile. This can be, for example, classic decoration – or you can differentiate between the respective seasons, depending on how detailed you want to create order.

The purpose of pre-sorting is to select the correct box size. Sometimes you are even surprised by how many candles you have at home. Since it is still worth storing empty crates in the basement, you can buy a batch before you start sorting. It is also worth paying attention to different heights with the different sizes, especially when stacking in the closet, more goes in. Experience has shown that you usually buy more boxes. However, make sure that the boxes have the right dimensions for your cupboard or your side, you should measure them beforehand.

The boxes can be stacked at will

Once you’ve pre-sorted your piles, you can start moving the contents into the appropriate boxes. When pre-sorting, some parts can fall completely out of line, so it’s worth creating a kind of “leftovers box” first. Because the content is visible, you can always see what’s flying around in the box.

Once everything has been taken care of, it is a matter of stacking the boxes to save as much space as possible. The principle applies: the things that you don’t need so often go at the bottom at the bottom. And then it’s happily stacked. It is only important that the contents of the boxes are as visible as possible, so that you have it easier when searching. Build your crate stacks the way you can use them most effectively. Despite the visible content, a cupboard or closet with boxes looks much tidier.

Collect everything you no longer need in a “gift box”.

And above all, you save space. You can then expand the Tetris trick as you wish. Whether you want to organize your basement, the gazebo or simply the wardrobe. The transparent boxes are ideal for storing shoes and bags at the bottom of the closet, for example. And the trick can even be used in the kitchen. Everyone knows the problem with the lids of storage boxes flying around, small rubber bands, clips or other small items lying around in the kitchen. These can also be neatly stowed away in small boxes and stacked in the cupboards.

It’s a good idea to check out your crates at regular intervals to keep them tidy. You can create a “gift box” for everything that you no longer use yourself, but is too good to throw away. You pack all these things in there and see if you can maybe give some of them away.
